I chat with music producer AG about her approach to music production, as well as overcoming some of the issues we face as women in any industry.

AG is a triple threat. She has been producing, songwriting, and engineering music since the age of 15. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, AG relocated to Los Angeles and began to make her mark as one of the few female producers in the industry. Her unique blend of diverse musical influences include M83, Peter Gabriel and PJ Harvey, has led to extensive network TV exposure, popular television commercials, and feature films.

Most recently, AG produced Ciara’s cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black” for Lionsgate’s new vampire killer movie The Last Witch Hunter. Rolling Stone Magazine describes the song as, “a syrupy, mesmerizing slow-burner.”

AG’s music has been featured in countless TV shows, and feature films including Pretty Little Liars, The Leftovers, Grey’s Anatomy, and Gossip Girl.

My biggest takeaways from this conversation were not so much about making music as they were about some of the universal challenges that we face as women.

Things like feeling like you need to be overqualified for a job before you actually think you can do it. We talk specifically about how she conquered that BS that we tell ourselves.
